Stay

My senior year of high school, Elysha was my best friend and we were constantly on the move in her giant worn down Bonneville. She even purchased for me a seat cover- to protect my legs from the cut up vinyl- that was gloriously tacky. We listened to KDWB religiously and sang aloud to as many songs as possible. Without air conditioning, windows rolled down, we were deliciously happy.

Reality Bites was the 90's version of the Breakfast Club and appealed to the Gen Y or Gen X group of kids who were destined for greatness, but worried we might not meet our expectations of ourselves. With a terrific soundtrack and an adorable Ethan Hawke, the movie was a giant hit. One of the title tracks from the soundtrack was Stay by Lisa Loeb, which my brother managed to post to my blog for me. I knew and may still, every single word of this song and it came to symbolize the friendship I had with Elysha, the fun we had singing it together and all of our adventures.

"You say that I was naive, and I thought that I was wrong...But now I know that I did something wrong, 'cause I missed you."

It was like a calling card for our faux relationships and inner teen angst and indecision:) This is the first track of my life's soundtrack. Eager to hear more!?
